Before The War

Life was new and life was sweet,
Life was free and we were gentle,
We would talk of this and that,
We were always so sentimental,
You would write a song or two,
I would sing and so would you,
But that was before the war
Yes that was before the war.

And we danced,
We danced the night away
And all our dreams came true,
Life was simply glorious in every thing we'd do.
We'd laugh and drink a beer with friends we held so dear,
There never was a fear but that was before the war.

Life was new and life was sweet,
Life was free and we were gentle,
We would talk of this and that,
We were al-ways so sentimental,
You would write a song or two,
I would sing and so would you,
But that was be-fore the war
Yes that was be-fore the war, never more.
